Project Title:
A Study of the Sustainable Economic Contributions to Communities Along the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site of Canada

Description:
This study will provide an overall picture of the economic potential of the Trent-Severn Waterway, a 386-kilometre system of navigable lakes and rivers in Central Ontario that, through 44 locks, 2 lift locks, 1 marine railway, and a network of 160 dams provides continuous recreational navigation from Lake Ontario to Georgian Bay.

This study is intended to examine this broader economic picture. It will identify how and where the Trent-Severn Waterway generates economic benefit to communities along its length; how navigable waterways in general contribute to the 'lifestyle" economy; what potential the Waterway has to generate sustainable economic benefit; and to outline what governments can to do facilitate sustainable economic activity compatible with the Waterway.
